Gillian measured each component of her DSLR camera using a digital caliper and then used those values to create a CAD model. The CAD model, drawings, and Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) were all created using Solidworks.
This pneumatic engine was manufactured by following engineering drawings to a thousandth of an inch. Gillian constructed this project using common manufacturing tools, such as manual lathes, manual milling machines, mill drills, saws, and hand tools.
These items were manufactured using Solidworks CAM software as well as CNC lathes and CNC mills. Through these projects, Gillian gained exposure with CAM software to generate efficient tool paths for 3-axis CNC mill machines and 2-axis CNC lathe machines for curved surfaces, roughing, finishing, threading, and parting operations.
